Portarlington
Hurricane conditions greeted the players for the second round of the Ivan Marks Memorial trophy at Portarlington and the scores reflected that with only one player managing to break his handicap for the day . Maybe it was his low centre of gravity or just plain rock solid golf that won Marinko Pausak the day with a cracking 69 , second was Ive Medved with 74 beating Ante Stosic on countback .
One round remains and there,s still plenty on the line in regards to the MVP and Ivan Marks trophies where we won,t know the winners until after the Point Lonsdale round.
Don,t forget that the end of year finals and Xmas party presentation will be held at The North Geelong Soccer club at Elcho Park on the 4th of December with lunch being served at 2.30 , make sure that we all make a big effort and turn up on the day. I,m told the raffle will be bigger and better than ever along with jumping castles and a little present for the kiddies.
See you all at Point Lonsdale
The Sands, Torquay
The Sands, Torquay – 11 September 2011
Cro open 2011
On Sunday I experienced the worst conditions I have ever played in. The course was in immaculate condition but the weather wasn’t so kind. The wind was blowing heavily and the rain would not go away.
My day started off bad with losing a ball off my first tee off and then my golf bag falling off my golf cart. I knew with a start like that, it was going to be a bad day. We all knew if anyone scored to their handicap they would have had an unbelievable round.
We had a couple of players who were members at the Sands so we knew the likes of Miro Kurtovic, Branko Matijevic and Miro Stosic would be hard to beat on this course.
The winner of the Cro open on 30 points was Dennis Juraga. Dennis has now qualified for the Champ of Champs. Miro Kurtovic come in on 30 points as well but had to slot into second position on count back. Unlucky Miro. Rounding out the top three was Stipe Kump. Stipe is running in some top form with a second and 2 thirds in the last three rounds. He is firming in as one of the favourites for the Champ of Champs.
Nearest the pins went to Miro Kurtovic, Ive Medved, and Adrian Began. longest drives to Matt Carroll and Mathew Velcek.
September 25th is the Vic Masters and the below 12 players will be representing Geelong. Good luck boys.
1. Stipe Kump
2. Chris Velcek
3. Steve Kunovic
4. Josip Peretin Jnr
5. Marinko Pausak
6. Ante Stosic
7. Vlado Tomasevic
8. Miro Kurtovic
9. Baranko Matijevic
10. Steve Smilovic
11. Frank Cosic (Curly)
12. Anthony Kunovic
Our Next event is on October 16 at Portarlington. Tee off is 7:00am.
Until next time, happy swinging.
Elcho Park
Elcho Park – 7 August 2011
My apologies for the delay in this write up.
Back in August we ventured off to Elcho park in perfect conditions. Unfortunately the greens were in appauling conditions and it affected everyones scores.
The top 3 all scored 41 points and it was decided on count back. For his second win in a row taking out Elcho Park was Chris Velcek. Coming in second place was Steve Kunovic. As Chris had already qualified for the Champ of Champs, Steve makes his way through to the finals. Rounding out third spot was Stipe Kump.
Longest Drives went to Stipe Kump and Mick Saba. Nearest the pins went to Ante Stosic, John Kandic, Frank ‘Curly’ Cosic and Mick Saba.
The prestigous NAGA went to Anthony Pavlicevic for the 2nd time this year
Our Next event is on September 11 at Torquay Sands. Tee off is 7:30am. The cost for this round is $80.00 as we are playing at a better quality course and golf carts are provided. If you have not already put your name down and are keen to play, please call or text Stipe Kump 0408 395 395 or Mark Vrljic 0402 849 852 so we can order Golf Carts for everyone.
Until next time, happy swinging.

East Geelong
East Geelong – 24 July 2011
Facing tough conditions on Sunday only 14 people turned up to East Geelong. It seems only the hardcore golfers had the motivation to get out of bed. The good thing with only 14 people turning up was even if you came last (Marinko Pausak) you still managed to earn a couple of MVP Points.
Because of the conditions it was a low scoring affair and taking out the round and Qualifying for the Champ of Champs is Chris Velcek on 36 points. He just pipped Stipe Kump on countback so Stipe had to settle for second place. Coming in third for the 3rd time this year was Ivan Stosic.
Nearest the pins went to Stipe kump, Chris Tyquin and Chris Velcek. Manners and Ante Stosic took out the longest drive and NAGA went to Marinko Pausak.
Our Next event is on August 7th at Elcho Park. Tee off is 7:30am.
Until next time, happy swinging.
