Point Lonsdale
Point Lonsdale (February 5th 2012)
With Strong Wind Warnings mentioned the night before, there were no signs of bad conditions when everyone teed off in the morning. It was perfect conditions on a very tough and challenging course. At the beginning of the day it looked like you would need a low to mid 40 score to win this round. That was until around the 9am mark. The wind begun to pick up and the conditions turned for the worse. The scores turned for the worse too.
The conditions were that bad at one stage that a tree had fallen on a golfer. Fortunately for us, it was not anyone from the Geelong Croatian Social Golf Club. If anyone had stuck around after the round they would have seen 2 ambulances, 1 paramedic and a helicopter turn up to the course. Reading the Geelong Advertiser on Monday it seemed everything was going to be OK for the man which is good news.
Back to the part everyone wants to know, Coming in with a score of 38 points and taking out the round was Gino Rabar. Second was Dennis Juaraga on 37 points and coming in third was Chris Velcek on 34 points. Nearest the pins went to Vinko Saric x2, Adrian Began and Chris Tabak. Longest drives were Stipe Kump and Marinko ‘Top Flite’ Pausak. NAGA went to Mark Alic who managed one of the all time low scores of 11 points. Well done Mark. You have earned yourself an orange vest for the next tournament.
Our next tournament is at Portarlington Golf Club on March 18th. Tee off is 6:45am. Please note this is the first round of the Ivan Marks Memorial and the ‘game type’ will be STROKE. Hope to see everyone there.
Until next time, Happy Swinging.
Cheers
Vrljic

the greens were poor, the fairways were dry, bunkers had no sand – thats my story and i am sticking to it
Pinga is doing the Brad Ottens approach, take it easy until the real stuff starts later on in the year.
Hope the plan works…..
Nearly choked on my corn flakes this morning…never ever blame the golf course for plain old bad golf Skivvy and worse than that , you dragged me down to your level .
steve… i wont blame the golf course anymore… instead i will blame my sore back as i have been carrying you and senior bear for a year now!!!!
I just noticed our former president running around Bell Park last night trying to be fit and ready for the Portarlington Tournament. He has to be oodds on favourite now to win. No Pressure Smil.
Well London is only around the corner and if you,ve seen my golf lately i think you would probably conclude that i would have more chance of winning the olympic marathon than the next round at Port.
still no Pinga peretin… the psychological scars must be running very deep
